POSITION SUMMARY

The Aquaculture Systems Plumber is responsible for the diligent care and maintenance of all aquaculture systems and production assets in a safe, sanitary, and efficient method. This position actively troubleshoots, diagnoses, performs, and documents preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities and repairs on facility, production, and life support equipment and systems. The Aquaculture System Plumber is responsible for a wide range of tasks, including installing and repairing pipes for various systems such as steam, hot water, heating, cooling, and industrial production. They also fit valves, couplings, and assemblies to tanks, pumps, and systems using hand tools. Their work often involves assembling pipe sections, tubing, and fittings, and modifying, cleaning, and maintaining pipe systems units and related machinery. They may also work with boiler systems, cooling towers, and piping into HVAC units on industrial and commercial work sites.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Completion of a craft apprentice, or an equivalent number of years of education and experience

  • Experience: 5+ years of plumbing, fitting experience

  • Licenses or Certifications: Plumbing, mechanical preferred

    • On-call with other employees to respond to system alarms

Job Functions

  1. Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance. Ensure operation of aquaculture systems and equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, processing equipment, and utility systems.

  2. Fabricate and assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using screws, bolts, soldier, plastic solvent, and mechanical fittings.

  3. Perform work in confined spaces, at heights requiring harnesses and other protective equipment.

  4. Operate powered industrial equipment in conjunction with all safety and operational protocols.

  5. Read and interpret equipment manuals, facility schematics and blueprints.

  6. Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the facility’s equipment including HVAC, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.

  7. Provide emergency/non-scheduled repairs of systems and equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment as scheduled.

  8. Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to mechanical, plumbing, diagnosing, etc.

  9. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

  10. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

  11. Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.

  12. Comply with both worker safety and food safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.

  13. Perform various welding duties including MIG welding using carbon and stainless steel.

  14. Follow all company designated record keeping activities.

  15. Attend onsite and distant training seminars and classes to bring new ideas and practices to Superior Fresh.

Secondary Job Functions

  1. Ability to use electrical and electronic test instruments as well as a full range of precision measuring tools to perform equipment repairs.

  2. Maintain reliable attendance.

  3. Actively participate in departmental meetings, training and education. Assist with training other employees and providing backup.

  4. Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.
